Believe 2015

My last year working on Believe.  This has been a really special project for me over the past seven years.  This close-out year was inspired by astrology -- by the stars.  Subtle infusions of lore and drops of symbolic references run throughout each image.

Amber Salo, thank you for making this happen each and every year.

Believe 2014: Vice & Virtue

Believe 2014:  Vices & Virtues, unveiled the narrative of right and wrong as it is told throughout history in both parable and fiction.  An interactive campaign, custom website, promotional video and poster series set the stage for an incredible dance concert that continues to grow its audience and its recognition.

Students were equipped with desktop, tablet and phone wallpapers, social media artwork and a custom hashtag to share their perspectives with (#believedanceconcert).

Every year I'm tasked with stretching the creative boundaries surrounding this exciting exhibition.  This year I collaborated with our returning makeup artist, motion/graphic designer and web designer to realize an ambitious vision.  Thanks to Jamison Caloras, Zack Graber, Alicia Blackard, Chris Mann, Tom Davis and Amber Salo.

Believe 2013 / Personified

My initial concept, The Wonders, Personified  helped capture the essence of those natural or man made wonders made real by the expressions and beauty of our models (a select bunch of the actual dancers).  Its all about soul here--fun when you get the chance to explore the spirit that lives within inanimate objects both touched and untouched my human hands.

What can color communicate?  Saturation?  Applied texture?  Each decision made with the 'wonder' in mind.  If man-made, what was the most important to the men who made it as well as to the women in their shadows?  If the 'wonders' were natural formations and occurences,  what characteristics can we relate to?  Which ones do we feel we understand?

Believe 2013 / Elements

Associated with these natural and man-made monuments are countless amounts of imagery and story.  This series sought to bring together the elements that accompany these landmarks and events in a way that helped illustrate a narrative of power and significance.

Believe 2013: The Wonders [Complete Project]

A Creative Director's paramount... this campaign every year only makes me more and more excited for the next.  Along with Amber Salo, dance instructor and 'reason' for the Believe Concert, we continually push the envelope even further.

Upon learning the theme for this year's show, I spent several weeks formulating the approach.  It's always a surprise to discover where it all leads-- normally nothing sticks for the first few ideas.  For this project, once inspiration took hold on one of my many afternoon walks, the concept was clear and strong... the Wonders personified.

James Hill, our bad ass videographer on this project was able to lay the foundation for the second concept:  the Wonders , elements.

Two concepts?  We just couldn't let it go.  Working within our parameters, we decided to use the two different concepts as separate tools.  The personified   series acted as posters to promote curiosity and excitement.  The elements adorned the tickets, helping to communicate and translate the theme through familiar imagery and relevant symbols.

I was lucky to lead such a talented Team:  Zachary Graber, James Hill, Baylee Adams, Alicia Blackard, Chad Paris, Chris Mann

Parisleaf: A Commitment to our Environment

This video is really a product of one of those moments seized to make the most out of.   I thought it would fun to produce our own video so that we could be our ideal client and explore some techniques that we have been eager to work with.  The result, Parisleaf:  A Commitment to the Environment Through Eco-Friendly Print.

We're lucky to have the Loblolly Woods directly behind our office.  An incredible little gem in Gainesville that always seems to recharge your soul a bit.  The perfect set for a simple message.

Music:  "Truth" by Balmorhea

CHW

A civil engineering firm that does so much more for their clients, CHW needed an updated web presence that communicated their progressive approach in an industry hard to stand out in.  My team included one Jamison Calores, a talented UI/UX Designer that helped bring my vision to life.  The foundation for this strategy was organization and access-- CHW has so much to communicate, but the challenge was to speak to the user in a way that made it simple to understand.

The initial impact was meant to convey meaningful messages that would communicate not just what CHW did, but how they did it.  Using a grid that smoothly hides and reveals content provides both order and surprise for the user.  Along with my talented development team, we were able to bring life to CHW's goals for a web presence that communicated all that their brand had to deliver and promised to grow with them in the coming years.

Unity College

Unity College, America's Environmental College, does something special with it's incoming freshman that makes it a different type of first year experience.  As part of a larger evaluation surrounding the voice of Unity College, this video was meant to focus on this special and unique freshman experience they insist upon that forges bonds, relationships and memories that persist throughout their lives.

Hopefully you feel the same way they do by the end of it.
